AI agents vs traditional workflow automation
A workflow is the path. An agent is one step on that path that can use a model. You want the path when the next action must be the same every time, and the agent when the words or the choice depend on the message in front of it.
Use a workflow when the branch is known
If unread billing mail should always be read, drafted, and held for approval, that is a workflow. Traditional automation tools already do this with filters. CrewX24 adds a model step where the draft has to be written from the thread, and it keeps the send behind approval.
Use an agent when the input is messy
A ticket that might be a refund, a bug, or a greeting should not be a twenty-branch filter on day one. A model step can classify it against instructions you wrote. The next tool step should still be specific: read the ticket, or wait for approval on the reply.
Do not pick only one
An agent with no workflow will improvise the tool. A workflow with no model will only match keywords. CrewX24’s crew is the combination: the canvas is the workflow, and a model step is the agent. Suggest-only mode keeps the agent from changing systems at all.
Questions
Which one does CrewX24 sell?
A crew that contains both. If you only want a chat box, this is the wrong product. If you only want a filter with no model, a mailbox rule may be enough.
